Weekly Wrap Up
January 21st – January 26th
Dear families,
What an outstanding week we had! On Monday, we had a
small change of plans due to the weather. We took advantage of our time
at school and began talking about manatees. Mr. Mitchell also came and
told us some stories. On Tuesday, we began our morning in Chapel.
Father Russell told us the Bible story of ‘John Baptizes Jesus.’ The
children enjoyed watching the baptism and some said they had seen a
baptism before. It is wonderful to watch the Bible come to life!
During Tuesday and Wednesday center time we worked on making our own
manatees. The children all stuffed a manatee of their very own and some
even made a manatee puppet. We continued to talk about manatee facts
and what we are going to see when we visit
Blue Springs
on Monday. There was also a special mystery reader – Father Russell!
He told us two stories: The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog and If You
Give a Pig a Party. The children had such a fun time listening to
his storytelling! On Thursday, the children voted on the manatee that
they would like to adopt. It came down to Chessie (boy) and Dana
(girl). The winning manatee was Dana! She is pictured above - what a
cutie! Her bio said she was born in 1988 and stayed close to her mother
until she was weaned, two years later. Now she is very outgoing and
playful. We will send a copy of her complete bio home for you to read.
Thank you for your donations to help adopt her! We will hang a larger
picture of her in our classroom and keep her and her travels in our
prayers. Other runner-ups were Floyd, Georgia, Lenny, Lily, Margarito,
Merlin,
Troy and Whiskers. We are hoping to
see some of them, on Monday, at
Blue Springs. On Friday, we read the story
Chessie, The Traveling Manatee. It was the true story of the
manatee we almost adopted – what an adventure he went on! After center
time, we went to the library and checked out new books. We also went on
a barefoot beach walk followed by a picnic outside. We pretended we
were on the beach. What a great way to finish the week!
Thank you to Luke for our outrageous collage letter ‘Oo!’
Thank you to Lizzie and family for the delicious snack bag! The
children loved the healthy snacks! Keep up the great work on the
mystery bags!
