Music Benefits:

 Why music?

ü     Music is very important for brain development

ü     Music helps develop eye hand coordination

ü     Music and movement help develop reading readiness

ü     Music helps problem solving skills

ü     Music develops the whole child

What do we do during music?

ü     Vocal play to assist expressive language

ü     Songs to increase listening skills

ü     Movements to increase left and right development

ü     Movements to increase creativity

ü     Movement to increase body awareness

ü     Activities to encourage children to interact together

ü     Activities to increase fine motor and gross motor skills

Key points:

A simple activity of Ring a Round the Rosie can help a child with left and right brain development.  Having the feet go side to side helps assists this area.

Adding props to the music, develops coordination, helps with crossing the mid-line and left and right brain development.

The first weeks of school we have songs that encourage listening, gross motor, fine motor, imitation and more.
