Dear Older 2's Parents,
 
     I can't believe we are already a week into February! We had so much fun learning about the Arctic and the animals that live there. We worked on our gross motor skills by sliding down the slide on our tummies like penguins and using just our arms to drag ourselves around the classroom like walruses. We spent a lot of time talking about our favorite Arctic animals and playing matching games with pictures and figurines. Finley brought in little Arctic animals that we used in the sensory table with giant icebergs. We also built caves and igloos for the animals!

     This month we will be learning about different kinds of pets and how to take care of them. Ms. Rosie bought us a new vet kit that is already a hit! We have been talking about our favorite pets and pets we have at home. If you would like to send in a picture of your pet, we would love to display it in the classroom! Also, let me know if you would like to bring your pet in for a visit!

      We will begin using paper cups for snack and lunch drinks next Monday, so you will no longer need to send in a sippee cup with your child. We will be working on pouring and, inevitably, cleaning up spills! Lauren Hamner, the speech pathologist at All Saints, recommends that children drink from a regular cup as soon as they are able, as this helps their oral muscle development more than a sippee cup.
